AcadFest 2003The UP Harong AcadFest 2003 was held last October 28-30 at te Naga City Youth Center. It was attended by four schools: Ateneo de Naga University, Camarines Sur National High School, Naga College Foundation and Universidad de Sta. Isabel. Aside from being the first time AcadFest was held, this year was also the first time the Sural Essay Writing was conducted. Some photos taken in this year's AcadFest can be found here. The UP Harong AcadFestThe UP Harong AcadFest is the culmination of the organization's thrust to advance the Bikolano youth. For several years, the organization-sponsored academic contests were held separately from each other. To further strengthen these contests, the organization decided to organize these contests into one academic festival. Together with a newly-created essay-writing contest, this academic festival is now known as the UP Harong AcadFest. The contests included in this festival are the following: 6th Voice of Freedom Extemporaneous Speaking ContestStarted as the Voice of Freedom Oratorical Contest, it was revised to Voice of Freedom Extemporaneous Speaking Contest in 2001. This year's winner and also three-time defending champion is the Universidad de Santa Isabel. The roving trophy was permanently handed over to USI after winner for three times in succession. 7th Inter-High School Open Debate TournamentThe first debate was held on December 1995 and until 1998, the Oregon-Oxford Style was used. In 1999, the Asian Parliamentary Debate was adopted. This year's winner is Universidad de Sta. Isabel. 2nd Quiz Wits CompetitionThe First Quiz Wits Competition was held in December last year at the Bicol Science competition. It is a quiz contest that tests the participants' knowledge in different subjects e.g. economics, bicol trivia, and information technology. This year's winner and two-time champion is the Ateneo de Naga University. 1st Sural Essay Writing CompetitionThis year's theme was "The Continuity of Philippine Culture in the Face of Globalization." There were four participants and three participating schools. This year's champion came from Universidad de Sta. Isabel.
