UP HARONG
Certified Ura9on: Celebrating 9 Excellent Years of the UP Harong
The University of the Philippines HARONG is a duly recognized organization
of UP Diliman students from the Province of Camarines Sur and the City
of Naga. The Organization aims to foster unity and camaraderie among
its members and with other students, to provide channels for the enhancement
of academic potentials and to develop awareness of and commitment to
the Province of Camarines Sur and the City of Naga. Now in its 9th year,
U.P. HARONG has been successful in bringing together the Iskolars kan
Banwaaan from Camarines Sur and Naga City in initiating activities that
follow the objectives of the Organization, as stated in its constitution
and bylaw
Vision and Mission
Within the University, the Organization shall have earned the respect
and recognition of its contemporaries as an association of quality and
significance. In the Province, the Organization will have made itself
a paragon of leadership, service and passion for one’s roots.
Our mission is to mold members into individuals who are responsible
and equally ardent in the pursuit of academic excellence, as well as,
service-oriented endeavors directed towards Camarines Sur and consequently,
the country.
Advocacies and Linkages
UP Harong as a member of the 2nd National Anti Poverty Commission Youth
and Students Assembly (2nd NAPC-YS) supports the government in its effort
for poverty alleviation. The Organization initiates activities such
as health and dental missions in Cam. Sur. In partnership with Habitat
for Humanity Tabang Atenista Project, The Organization is raising funds
for low cost housing projects and will be building harongs (homes and
houses) for deserving families in Cam. Sur.
UP Harong is also in the forefront of youth and student leadership
and activism. UP Harong is recognized by and a partner of Naga City
Government for projects concerning youth development for almost 9 years.
UP Harong was represented in the 5th National Youth Parliament held
in Bicol on 2004. The Organization is also on war against corruption.
UP Harong is part of the Department of Education and Government Watch’s
project—Textbook Count 3 to render volunteer service in ensuring transparency
in bidding, quality of books and timely delivery of books to recipient
schools.
